All the important PlayStation news you missed in a TLDR format every Tuesday and Friday mornings at 7am EST.
Sniper Elite V2 Remastered will release on May 14 and it includes all DLC and 4K HDR. Both Jeff and Jason had an opportunity to try the game out at PAX East and were impressed by what they experience. The game will cost $34.99 or $31.50 if you pre-order. Now where is that Sniper Elite VR news…
You may have heard of Troy Baker if you have played a game or two in the past decade. The talented actor was Talion in Shadow of War, Magni in God of War and Joel in The Last of Us just to name a few. He also voiced Rhys in Telltale’s Tales From the Borderlands. Unfortunately, he will not be returning to voice Rhys in the upcoming Borderlands 3. There are conflicting reports as to whether or not Gearbox did not ask him to return or he turned down the role as well as some reports that Rhys will not have a role in Borderlands.
Looks like another licensing issue has hit the PlayStation Store as Activision has pulled 14 games which include: Angry Birds Star Wars, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, Deadpool, Ghostbusters, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, The Legend of Korra, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5, Transformers Devastation, Transformers; Fall of Cybertron, Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark and White Night. As with most licensing issues, if you already own any of these games, you can still download and play although it is unclear if this has any bearing on the online portions of the games.
Excited for Rage 2? Loved Doom? Now you can use the famous BFG 9000 in Rage when it comes out next month. This is not even the craziest addition to Bethesda’s upcoming game. If you pre-order, you will unlock Tim Kitzrow’s voice. Tim who?? Remember the announcer from NBA Jam. Now you hear all of his favorite catchphrases like “REJECTED!” or “He’s heating up!” as you decimate your foes.
Last piece of news from the past few days but arguably the biggest is….PSN NAME CHANGE IS HERE! Yes, finally, the long spoken about, but only in rumors, ability to change your PSN name has arrived. The first one is free and then costs $9.99 ($4.99 for PS Plus subscribers) for every time you want to change it again. Reverting back to your old name is free of charge and your old remains locked to you. There are risks (major ones) but only in a small number of games which include:
- Your previous ID may remain visible in some online games
- You could lose progress in game (this includes save data and trophy progress)
- Some games may not function properly online and offline
- You could lose content such as DLC or in-game currency.
In some good (in the eye of the beholder) news, if your name is deemed offensive or inappropriate, instead of just being banned, you are given the opportunity to change your name.
